Working as a registered nurse with an associate's degree in nursing ADN can offer many different job opportunities. Registered nurses who work in hospitals, private practices, home health care and other medical settings can be required to possess specific credentials and qualifications. Oftentimes, an RN's required qualifications can vary by medical facility and sometimes the state.

Commonly, though, ADNs can be required to possess several key qualifications in order to work in the field. An ADN-RN's education specifically focuses on the principles and practices of nursing and other prerequisite coursework like anatomy and physiology and biological processes. This certification further qualifies the nursing student to enter the medical field and begin practice.

Similarly, the NCLEX-RN can be considered a qualification that can lead to certification in specialty areas like critical care nursing.
