For this reason, buying an or landline is a better bet than an number. Customers are likely to mistakenly recognise this number as an inner London landline and deem the business associated with the prefix as more impressive and central to the big city.

On the whole, numbers are a natural choice for plenty of companies. Their central location, worldwide recognition and availability are big plus points for investing in the mysterious prefix. This is evidenced by how many authoritative organisations are beginning to use numbers for their external communications.
